KANPUR: In a re-run of Sant Kabir Nagar and Gonda cases, a man in Kanpur Dehat’s Rasoolabad locality arranged the marriage of his wife of 15 years with her lover after discovering their illicit relationship.The wife also provided written documentation terminating her relationship with her first spouse.Village head Jai Chand of Bhagga Niwada said Yogesh Tiwari (40), a labourer, married Soni (30), daughter of Kripa Shankar Mishra from Aurangpur Sambhi, in May 2010.“However, Soni maintained an illicit relationship with Vikas Dwivedi (35) from Kannauj,” said Jai Chand.He said this led to confrontations among the couple. Soni recently left for her parents’ house. On Monday, she returned to her husband’s house. Later that day, Vikas also arrived in the village.Upon noticing him, Yogesh alerted the police on 112. Though Vikas initially fled, Yogesh, acknowledging his wife’s preferences, asked him to return.A panchayat was convened, and Soni provided written consent for her new marriage and released Yogesh from marital obligations. The situation resolved with the husband organising his wife’s wedding at a temple near Tisti police post, with police officials and villagers present. Yogesh permitted his 12-year-old son to accompany his mother.The incident gained attention alongside the ongoing Raja Raghuvanshi murder investigation, concerning a death during a honeymoon in Meghalaya.Similar events occurred recently. In Gonda, Harishchandra arranged his wife Karishma’s wedding to her alleged partner Shivraj Chauhan at a local temple after discovering them together.Previously in March, in Sant Kabir Nagar, Babloo arranged his wife Radhika’s marriage to her partner. Babloo and Radhika, wed since 2017, have two children.
