To provide a resource for those displaced by the Los Angeles fires, this edition of “What You Get” focuses on rentals rather than for-sale properties.

This three-bedroom, one-bathroom house is in a neighborhood south of Interstate 10, within a 15-minute drive of both Culver City and downtown Los Angeles. A public elementary school is three blocks away, and both West Adams and West Jefferson Avenues, nearby major thoroughfares, are lined with shopping and dining options, including a 24-hour hot dog and sandwich stand, a taqueria and a Creole restaurant.

Rancho Cienega Recreation Center, with tennis courts, a pool, and a track, is a five-minute drive. The USC campus takes 15 minutes by car and LAX takes 25.

Indoors: Paved steps lead from the street to the red front door, which opens to the living room. The walls are painted teal with white trim, and original built-in bookshelves flank a gas fireplace with a black tile hearth. There’s a window above each bookshelf and a larger window faces the front yard. The home is available partially furnished.

On the other side of the living room, through a wide doorway flanked by white columns, is the formal dining room. There’s a pass-through window to the kitchen, which has a white tile backsplash above granite counters.

Two of the three bedrooms are off a hallway from the dining room. The largest faces the street, with three big windows and, like the rest of the house, original hardwood floors. The second bedroom, big enough for a queen-size bed, has wood-paneled walls painted dark green. The bathroom, also off the hall, has a combined tub and shower. A third bedroom, big enough for a double bed, is directly off the dining room.

Outdoor space and amenities: A paved patio off the kitchen is shaded by mature fruit trees and the fenced-in yard beyond it is landscaped with artificial grass. The driveway has room for one car.

This one-bedroom, one-and-a-half bathroom unit is in Park Wellington, a large building just south of Sunset Boulevard. Nightclubs on the Sunset Strip are within walking distance, as are Mel’s Drive-In and the Comedy Store. The Beverly Center shopping mall takes five minutes by car, and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center takes less than 10 minutes. The Grove and The Original Farmer’s Market are both a 10-minute drive.

Studio City is 15 minutes away by car, as are U.C.L.A. and Century City.

Indoors: Double doors open from the hall to a foyer, with the living room adjacent. The floors are laminate, and the unit is being rented with its furnishings. Adjacent to the living room is a spacious dining area, with sliding-glass doors that open to a private brick patio surrounded by greenery and views of the building’s gardens.

The galley-style kitchen, off the dining area, has recessed lighting and stainless steel appliances. A half bath is off the foyer, and the living room has access to two closets.

A secondary sitting area, which could also be used as an office nook, is set up between the dining area and the bedroom. The bedroom has a closet and a window with wooden shutters facing the patio. Adjacent to the bedroom is the updated main bathroom, which has a walk-in shower, built-in cabinets and a wooden vanity with a green stone countertop.

Outdoor space and amenities: In addition to the unit’s private patio, the building’s residents share an in-ground swimming pool surrounded by cabanas, a sauna, a gym and tennis courts. The unit includes one designated parking spot in a secure garage.

Within walking distance are several coffee shops, an outpost of Fat Sal’s, a locally-beloved sandwich shop, and a coffee and doughnut shop owned by the actor Danny Trejo. A Ralphs supermarket is less than a mile away, as is a shopping center with a Target, a Best Buy and a wine store.

The Hollywood/Highland Metro station, a stop on the B Line, is 15 minutes away on foot. By car, the Sunset Strip is a 10-minute drive and downtown Los Angeles is 25 minutes by car.

Indoors: A gate opens from the street to this home’s driveway, with the front door set between two tall hedges.

Inside, the living room has hardwood floors, a street-facing window and a fireplace with a white stone mantel. Through an arched doorway is the formal dining room, where a wrought-iron chandelier provides light. The kitchen, behind the dining room, is sunny, with Spanish tile floors and a window above the sink. The dishwasher and a range with a gas cooktop are stainless steel. On the other side of the kitchen is a laundry room with a side-by-side washer and dryer and a door to the patio.

Two of the three bedrooms are at opposite ends of a hallway extending from the dining room. A street-facing bedroom has mirrored closet doors, and the other has closets with bi-fold wooden doors and looks out on the rear patio. Between the bedrooms is a bathroom with blue and white tile floors, a combined tub and shower and a newer white vanity. The hallway has more built-in storage.

The third bedroom is off the kitchen, with its own closet. Next door, also accessible via the kitchen, is another full bathroom, this one with a glass-walled shower.
